21st Annual Short Course on Probabilistic Analysis and Design
October 4-8, 2010; San Antonio, Texas
Overview
This course is intended for engineers, scientists, and technical managers concerned with managing the uncertainties and risks of structural, mechanical, and other engineering systems, and desire to become familiar with the background and use of state-of-the-art probabilistic methods.
The first 3 days will provide the attendee with an introduction to probabilistic theory and reliability analysis and how they can be used to inform and enhance a real-world design problem.
The morning of the fourth day will consist of a case study workshop where the attendees will work in small groups with SwRI engineers to apply the techniques learned in the course to solving real problems. Each attendee will have the opportunity to provide a problem of interest. The course staff will contact each attendee prior to the course to discuss potential applications for this workshop.
The optional final day (the afternoon of Day 4 and morning of Day 5) will cover Module 2 of our NESSUS Training Course, in which attendees will learn how to use NESSUS to solve probabilistic analysis problems that involve numerical models such as finite element analysis.
Tuition
For those wishing to attend both modules of the course, tuition is US$1,250. Attendees may choose to register for Module 1 only, for a tuition of US$750.
Tuition covers a copy of the course notes, refreshments during the day, lunches, and a course dinner for all attendees on the first day.
